We are dismayed by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman’s executive order attempting to banish trans, non-binary, and gender-non-conforming people from Nassau County athletic facilities. As the largest LGBTQ+ aquatics team in the United States, and the largest adult aquatics team of any kind in New York State, we know better than anyone the profound harm that is done when government officials like Blakeman attack vulnerable minority populations like the ones we serve.

This order will have an immediate negative impact on our members, banning us from taking part in aquatics events we have competed in for years. We call on New York State Attorney General Letitia James to take immediate action to stop this flamboyantly illegal order, and our lawmakers in Albany to take affirmative steps to ensure public facilities are open to everyone.
