UPDATED AND REVISED ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2020:
We want to thank everyone for your understanding as we work through this pandemic. We are excited to announce that Convent of the Sacred Heart School on the Upper East Side (406 East 91st Street, New York, New York 10128) will host our first reopening lap swim practice in their indoor pool on Saturday, October 3. There are a number of COVID policies and procedures to ensure social distancing that must be followed in order to remain in good standing, so we kindly ask that you familiarize yourselves with the below information.
Sacred Heart COVID Policies & Procedures: Everyone attending practices at Sacred Heart must create a unique account on their new Health Questionnaire System (requires you to provide Sacred Heart with your full name, telephone number and e-mail address for contact tracing). TNYA will also require to fill out this separate Google Form for TNYA record keeping to cross-reference with the Sacred Heart roster (TNYA COVID Policies & Procedures detailed below). Everyone attending practices at Sacred Heart must also familiar themselves with the Sacred Heart COVID Policies & Procedures (summarized below). Our very own Warren Perry has also created a safety video to walk everyone through the new policies and procedures. After you have registered in the Sacred Heart Health Questionnaire System, you will receive a text message every morning with a link to a health questionnaire. This must be filled out prior to your arrival at the pool in order to gain access to the facility. Please complete this survey only on the day(s) you have reserved your spot at practice. After completion, you will receive a code that you will scan as you pass the security gate at the pool (please note that once you are in the Sacred Heart system you will get a text message daily regardless of whether you have made a reservation for practice, but you will only need to complete the health questionnaire to get your code for the day you have made a reservation in order to gain entry to the building (reservation procedures detailed below)). Upon entering the facility, you will be asked to show your questionnaire code and submit to a temperature check. After your temperature check, you will be met by the TNYA Gatekeeper. They will check you into the practice and assign you a lane. After you receive your lane assignment, you can then go into the locker room to change. We encourage everyone to arrive ready to swim, although this is not required. We will only have access to the facility 5 minutes before our practice starts. If you need to use the locker rooms, only 10 people will be permitted in at a time. After you enter the pool, please bring your items out on the pool deck. Storing items in the locker room during practice is not permitted by Sacred Heart COVID policy. After practice, Sacred Heart also prohibits showering in the locker rooms, but, if you would like to rinse off, please use the showers located outside of the locker rooms on the pool deck. Once you arrive on the pool deck, please place your personal items on the bleachers in the area that is designated to your specific lane. Please keep your mask on and remain six feet away from your fellow TNYAs until you are instructed to get into the water by the coaches. At full capacity there will only be four people per lane. Two swimmers will remain in the middle of the pool, while the other two will start from either the shallow end or the deep end walls.
TNYA COVID Pool Deck Policies & Procedures (Coaching, Equipment & Practice Schedule): At Sacred Heart, our staff will be following Sacred Heart’s COVID policies & procedures (detailed above). Each workout will be supervised by two TNYA coaches. Please keep an eye on the team calendar for who will be coaching what workouts in the coming days. Everyone will be required to bring their own equipment (flippers, paddles, buoys, etc.) to and from practice. The team will be unable to use or store any equipment at Sacred Heart at this time. The practice schedule will is detailed below. There is a chance these times will shift around by 15 minutes, depending on how much time Sacred Heart allots to cleaning the facility between renters.
