Team New York Aquatics (TNYA) is proud to announce the return to our schedule of Low Pressure Zone (LPZ) workouts at Convent of Sacred Heart pool. Last year, Heritage of Pride awarded a grant to TNYA to bring this workout to intermediate swimmers, with an emphasis on those who have historically been excluded from pool access, including communities of color. This workout is designed for intermediate swimmers with basic skills (floating, treading water, rhythmic breathing, freestyle, etc.) to learn new technique with the goal to be able to join a masters level workout. We are delighted to be able to offer this program now as capacity limits at Sacred Heart have allowed us to open practices to more swimmers.

These co-sponsored workouts will take place at Sacred Heart on Tuesdays at 8:15pm during TNYA’s regularly scheduled practice time. We will be setting aside space for ten participants to join LPZ practice, occupying the first two lanes.

With assistance from Heritage of Pride, LPZ workouts will be free of charge to all current and new TNYA members. These workouts will remain free until the provided grant is completely utilized. LPZ workouts will begin on Tuesday, April 13. Do you have a friend or know a member of our community who would love this opportunity? Let’s get them signed up to join us! At the end of these co-sponsored practices, we will be having a celebration to congratulate the swimmers who took the plunge with TNYA, and our goal is to help build opportunities to welcome swimmers to our community.

While current swimmers are welcome to take advantage of the LPZ opportunity, please remember the emphasis of this practice is for intermediate swimmers. For more information, visit our LPZ information page here.

Update April 30, 2021: Due to the overwhelming success of the program, we can no longer offer free LPZ Memberships.
