Neil has been swimming and competing since he was about 5 years old in water-obsessed San Diego, CA. He also enjoys Olympic-style sprint kayaking and water polo and swims almost every year in the annual La Jolla Rough Water Swim.
Neil joined TNYA in 2014 and started coaching soon after. He competed in both high school and college (Division III at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota). His favorite events are the 200 and 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM. Neal’s experience growing up around water keeps him writing fitness workouts that are challenging and entertaining for all levels.
After college, Neil was a pool lifeguard and children’s swim instructor and eventually became ocean certified through the San Diego Lifeguard Academy, but then jumped
at a career in publishing in NYC. He now designs book covers.
