UPDATED AND REVISED ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2021:

New Practice & Clinic Schedule Changes in November

There will not be any practices during the Thanksgiving Day Holiday Weekend (Thursday, November 25 to Sunday, November 28). There will not be water polo practice on Wednesday, November 24. Speed Swimming and LPZ (our intermediate clinics) will be offered on Wednesday, November 24. We started a new practice and clinic schedule starting on Monday, November 1. See our practice & clinic schedule calendar for our current offerings. More details about the changes in our fall schedule are provided below.

After November 1, we will not be able to offer our weekday speed swimming and LPZ (our intermediate swim clinics) practices at Sacred Heart because our time will be used by the varsity high school swim team. We will continue to offer speed swimming at Sacred Heart on Saturdays. We will also continue to offer water polo at Seahorse Fitness on Wednesdays, and artistic swimming at Seahorse Fitness on Mondays. We will also continue to offer speed swimming at the Brooklyn Bedford-Union Armory (Major Owens Center) Recreation Center on Tuesday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and Thursday mornings. LPZ (our intermediate swim clinics) will be offered at the Brooklyn Armory together with our speed swimming practice on Wednesdays (register for speed swimming to attend LPZ). Starting November 8, speed swimming will be offered on Mondays at Seahorse Fitness together with our artistic swimming practices. For details about our fall schedule, see our practice schedule calendar. Trial memberships are available if you are trying our the aquatic discipline for the first time, even for members trying our new aquatic disciplines. If you are interested in a trial membership, see our membership registration page for details. Financial aid is also available through our Paul Fortoul Fellowship Program.

Unfortunately, at this time, our other pools that hosted our practices and clinics immediately before COVID lockdown last year, (Baruch College, Columbia University & Long Island University) have not yet reopened for outside rentals. John Jay College has not yet reopened for outside rentals either. We are searching for other pools to expand our practice and clinic offerings while we await the reopening of these pools to outside rentals. We will update our website when we have more information on more offerings. If you have any questions or concerns about our new fall schedule, contact us at: mail@tnya.org

COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate

Please note that the city has mandated COVID-19 vaccination for all participants in our programs. In compliance with New York City guidelines, all members must show proof of vaccination to participate in TNYA practices and clinics. Proof of vaccination must be shown to the gatekeeper at the beginning of every practice and clinic. Proof can be provided in the form of a New York State Excelsior Pass or your CDC vaccination card (original, photocopy or photo). Any medical exceptions must receive prior authorization from the board. Any person receiving such exemption must remain masked at all times while not physically in the water. Thank you for your hard work keeping TNYA compliant with city guidelines. For general information about the city’s guidelines, visit their website. If you have any questions or concerns about the vaccination mandate, contact us at: mail@tnya.org

IGLA 2021 Annual General Meeting scheduled for October 16

In conjunction with a generous grant provided by U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) & USA Swimming Foundation Adult Learn-to-Swim Grant Program, we launched our new Adult Learn-To-Swim program this past summer. The USMS/Swim.com Fitness Series is a fundraiser for the USMS ALTS Grant Program. USMS also used the reserves in the Adult Learn-to-Swim Grant Program fund to provide emergency relief in response to the COVID-19 pandemic last year. We received grant funding through this emergency relief grant program last year. Combined, USMS has provided us with more than $7k in grant funding in the past year. We are extremely grateful for this financial support! The next challenge in the USMS/Swim.com Fitness Series is the 2021 USMS Fall Fitness Challenge which will run from October 1 to October 15. We encourage all of our members to participate and support USMS fundraising efforts. Details about the challenge are available on the USMS website here. More information about our Adult Learn-to-Swim program that we ran this past summer is available on our website here.

USMS Fall Fitness Challenge from October 1 to October 15
