The TNYA Board of Directors is delighted to announce a series of major improvements for our Artistic Swimming program, beginning April 2, 2024.
A new, beautiful facility
Starting Tuesday, April 2, 2024, Artistic Swimming will be moving to the Borough of Manhattan Community College deep tank in Tribeca, a state-of-the-art facility conveniently located in Tribeca, right next to the Canal Street A-C-E station.
BMCC will be shut for maintenance in July and August, and during those two months we will return to Seahorse Fitness. We are optimistic about a permanent move to BMCC starting in September and will have more news to share in mid-to-late July.
A new team schedule
The most significant piece of feedback from our recent survey of artistic swimming was a demand for more frequent practices on weeknights. We are delighted to announce that from April 2, Artistic Swimming will work out from 7:00- 8:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. This schedule change will continue when the practices revert back to Seahorse in the summer.
Artistic Swimmers currently on a 1x per week artistic swimming pass who want to attend both practices should upgrade to a 2x all-sport subscription or Unlimited subscription. You can upgrade by writing to mindbody@tnya.org. The Board is designing a new 3x subscription which we hope to deploy in May; look out for more details in future newsletters.
We also encourage those who cannot afford 2x practices per week to apply for the Fortoul Fellowship; applications are still open! You can apply at www.tnya.org/financial-aid.
A new speaker system
The Board has made a major investment in our artistic swimming underwater speaker, buying a state-of-the-art system that will be deployed in the coming weeks.
A new chance to try Artistic Swimming!
To celebrate the expansion of our Artistic Swimming program, the Board is offering free Artistic Swimming practices to the first 16 newbies who express interest in trying out artistic swimming. (Limit 1x free practices per person; first come, first serve). If you would like to try a free practice, please email us at synchro@tnya.org.
The Board is fully committed to expanding all of TNYA’s programs to create the richest and most enjoyable aquatics experience possible. We are thrilled to be able to announce these changes for Artistic Swimming so early in the term. We are continuing to work hard on expanding our other programs and hope to have news to share on that front very soon.
Please join us in thanking Artistic Swimming coach Veronika Orlovska, Artistic Swimming Coordinator Maya Davis, and our entire Artistic Swimming team for their hard work in making this expansion possible.
