Recap of our Virtual Annual Banquet & Holiday Party held on December 17, 2020

On December 17, 2020, we held our awards banquet and holiday party virtually. The night started off with a hilarious take on “Last Christmas” (Original music by George Michael) with parody lyrics written and performed by TNYA Vice President Nora Cronin. Emcee Audrey Phoenix walked us through the first the first group of awards – One Hour Swim, Multi Sport-Athlete of the Year and Spirit Award (Quarantine Queen), followed by an intermission featuring Andrew Anson as Marie Ansonette. After our final two awards — Coach of the Year and TNYA of the Year — were announced, team President Warren Perry provided a heartfelt memorial to the teammates who passed away this year: Robby Browne, Matt Clark, Don Fraser, and C.A. Hutton. We wrapped up the evening with a 2020 highlight reel (yes, we had some), a remarkable performance by NYC Drag Queen Audrey Phoenix and a toast to TNYA by Team Manager Tom Luchsinger.

Sending big congratulations to our award winners!

  • One Hour Swim Award Winner: Nathan Burstein
  • Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year: Audie McRae
  • Spirit Award Winner (2020 Quarantine Queen): Mark Anastasi
  • Coach of the Year: Onesimo Demira

PRESS RELEASE LAST UPDATED AND REVISED ON DECEMBER 13, 2020:

2020 Annual Banquet & Holiday Party

Our 2020 Awards Banquet & Holiday Party will be held virtually on Thursday, December 17 starting at 7pm on Zoom (attend event here). The event will be hosted by local drag queen extraordinaire Audrey Phoenix. Everyone is also invited to perform for the team in an open virtual drag talent show, and you can sign up until Monday, December 7. If you are interested in putting on a performance, please fill out this drag talent show sign-up form.

We are still accepting nominations for the 2020 awards until Sunday, December 6. If you would like to nominate your teammates for a 2020 award, fill out our 2020 award nomination form (deadline is Sunday, December 6).

This is also a fundraiser for TNYA! We will be giving away prizes to the drag performers who receive the most virtual tips for TNYA during their performance. Invite your friends to watch you perform and donate. Losing a member of the TNYA community is never easy. This pandemic has added a layer of complication the mourning process, since the celebration of one life could result in endangering another. We want to celebrate these lives safely. The awards banquet will include special remembrance for the TNYAs who we have lost this year, including Matt Clark and Robby Browne. We also plan on showing continued love and support for CA Hutton who has recently entered hospice for pancreatic cancer. We hope you can make it!
