General Information about Elections for the 2020 Board of Directors

Our organization is governed by our bylaws which established a Board of Directors as the administration. Our Board of Directors consists of nine of our members serving 2-year terms. Four (4) of those members are elected on odd number years, and five (5) of those members on even number years. For the year 2020, five (5) seats on the board are up for election in the next annual meeting. The remaining four (4) board members will continue to serve on the board through the end of 2020.

If you are interested in running for the board, you should prepare a candidate statement that introduces yourself to the membership and explains your motivation for running for the board. Some information you may want to include:

  • Motivation: Why would you like to serve? What has the team meant to you?
  • Goals: What would you like to achieve during your tenure?
  • Skills: What skills or experience would you bring to the Board? (such as non-profit management, accounting, legal background, web development, marketing, fundraising, etc.)
  • Experience: (Do you have past experience volunteering with the team or other non-profits? Do you have relevant professional experience that you could relate (accounting, event planning, fundraising, merchandise)?

The deadline to submit your candidate statement is Thursday, January 23. You should submit your candidate statement to the board at: co-chairs@tnya.org
