TNYA Spotlight: Emma Hansen

The TNYA Board is delighted to announce that Emma Hansen is our Teenya of the Month. Emma is one of the mainstays of the TNYA water polo team, helping out with tournaments, workouts, coaching, travel, and arranging the all-important social events. Emma is also a fantastic swimmer and is an active recruiter for both sports, encouraging swimmers to play polo and vice versa.

Emma started swimming at age 12 and started playing waterpolo as a freshman at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. During her time at Mac, the women’s waterpolo team transitioned from a club to a varsity sport, and by her senior year they competed in the NCAA national tournament (where they got their butts kicked VERY hard). During law school she played waterpolo on the Tulane club team in New Orleans. Emma won the Multi-Sport award at the 2012 TNYA Awards banquet.

Emma’s favorite TNYA moments are winning everything in Iceland (including Farm Tour!!) and David’s “backstroke week” practice. Emma’s goals for the coming year are to swim more, lose her googles less, and buy a modest single-family townhouse in the West Village. Emma is an attorney at Wolfram & Hart and lives in Hell’s Kitchen with her boyfriend, Nathaniel.
