TNYA was founded by swimmers in 1990 in preparation for Gay Games III in Vancouver. We are an inclusive community of aquatics athletes that welcomes adults (18 years of age and older) of every ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, race, ethnicity, nationality, and creed. Since our founding, our membership has grown significantly to today include hundreds of swimmers, water polo players, divers, and synchronized swimmers (now artistic swimmers) of all levels of ability and experience. We are proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community and aquatics community in New York City and we greatly appreciate our amazing aquatics community and our LGBTQ+ partners for making us a pillar in the local LGBTQ+ athletic community for the past 3 decades.
In addition to regularly training together in practices and workouts in Manhattan and Brooklyn, we also have various special events and social gatherings. We have a professional coaching staff that has experience working with athletes of every level of ability and experience. For beginners, we sometimes offer clinics for learning fundamentals and improving skills. For advanced swimmers and experienced athletes, we have clinics and practices tailored to training for competition and conditioning. For more information about joining our team, visit our information page here.
We look forward to seeing you in the pool!
