Team New York Aquatics (“TNYA”) is New York City’s LGBTQ+-inclusive masters aquatics team, offering swimming, water polo, and artistic swimming practices and competitions to adults of every ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, race, ethnicity, nationality, and creed. We believe aquatic sports are for everyone. No matter your level of experience – from learning to swim to competition-level training – we have a practice, and a community, for you!
New members are welcome to join at any time; we offer a 30-day free trial including 2 free practices for those who want to see if TNYA is for them.
In addition to regularly training together in daily (sometimes multiple daily) practices and workouts for our three aquatic sports in Manhattan and Brooklyn, we also have various special events and social gatherings including open water swimming opportunities in the summer. We have a seasoned group of coaches that has experience working with athletes of every level of ability and experience (and are always looking for more coaches to join us!).
Since our 1990 founding in preparation for the Gay Games III in Vancouver, we are proud to have grown to be the latest adult aquatics team in the tristate area and the largest LGBTQ+-inclusive aquatics team in the world, all while being a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) charity. We collaborate regularly with the LGBTQ+ and aquatics community in New York City, are a founding member of IGLA+ (the international LGBTQ+ aquatics federation), and are a local athletic organizational member of U.S. Masters Swimming, USA Water Polo, and U.S. Artistic Swimming.
We look forward to seeing you in the pool!
