TNYA Coaches: Scott Jordan
Scott Jordan was appointed Head Coach in May 2012. He’s been coaching and swimming with Team New York since March 2010.
Scott is a New York City public 6th grade English teacher who has been teaching swimming lessons to children and adults since the age of 15. He still gives basic swimming lessons to children and adults in New York City and consequently loves helping beginner TNYA swimmers advance their strokes and help achieve their goals.
Scott’s swimming career began at age 9 with a local summer team in Connecticut. Scott was recruited to swim at St. Bonaventure University where he swam with the Bonnies for 4 years in the Atlantic 10 conference, winning multiple titles in the 100 yard breaststroke. He still swims competitively today and holds several IGLA records.
Scott believes the strength of TNYA lies in its diversity of swimmers, who have a broad range of experience, ability and motivations and yet remain so supportive of one another. His goal as our head coach is to keep this culture intact and expand it with his passion for swimming.
