About Team New York Aquatics

TNYA was founded in 1990 in preparation for Gay Games III in Vancouver. We welcome swimmers of every ability, sexual orientation, race, creed, status, and age (although you must be over 19, in keeping with US Masters regulations). Our membership now numbers over 175 swimmers, water-polo players, and synchronists of all levels of experience. Many swimmers swim for fitness alone, challenging themselves in workouts by swimming against their own best times. Many others challenge their goals through rigorous competition, by regularly attending swim meets with the team. With our excellent coaching staff (all of whom are team members themselves), all swimmers receive individual attention and encouragement. Please join us! As a member, you can attend any of our numerous weekly workouts. You can also attend workouts of our sister team, the Red Tide of New York, which meets in the same pools. Anyone with questions is welcome to get in touch with us; for specifics, see our contacts page. For more information about our water polo team, see our water polo page.

New Swimmers: Your first workout is free. We recommend that you arrive 10-20 minutes early for your first workout. Tell the "gatekeeper" that you are a new swimmer, and gatekeeper will take care of the rest, including providing the USMS form that must be completed for insurance purposes, a team membership application, workout signup sheet, general team info, etc.
